CISBM is an independent community of researchers working at the interface of systems biology and medicine. We are organized around what our members do together — not around titles.
A research community, not an institution.
CISBM does not confer degrees, employ faculty, or compete with universities. It exists to give researchers — whether established professors or early-career scientists — a structured way to collaborate on focused scientific work outside their home institutions.
Membership carries no cost and no commercial obligation. Participation is judged on scientific merit and genuine research interest, not seniority or institutional affiliation.
Activities, not standing committees.
CISBM's work happens through defined activities: scientific seminars and conferences, research meetings, and the Research Bootcamp — an intensive format in which researchers rapidly develop proposals, manuscripts, and computational analyses together.

Systems biology, applied to medicine.
Our research interests center on computational and quantitative systems biology, translational medicine, and the methods that connect molecular-scale data to clinical questions. We favor rigor and reproducibility over breadth for its own sake.
CISBM does not restrict participation to a single subfield. What unites our members is a shared commitment to research that is scientifically honest and methodologically sound.
Two communities, one standard.
CISBM's community includesAdvisory & Distinguished Members — established scientists who guide our scientific direction — andEmerging Researchers — early-career scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and students conducting original work. Both are held to the same standard of scientific rigor, and neither is presented as subordinate to the other.
